Import and export vocabulary

Local JSON files · merge or replace · validated before changes

Use Settings → Custom Vocabulary to move or back up the preferred spellings and spoken forms you added to Listen Orb. Import and export are local file operations.

Export a copy

Choose Export… to save a plaintext JSON copy where you want it. The export includes the complete validated vocabulary and does not change the live list. A cloud-synced destination may sync the file through that service.

Import a Listen Orb export

Choose Import… and select one JSON file previously exported by Listen Orb. The complete file is validated before the current vocabulary changes.

• Merge keeps current entries, adds new entries and spoken forms, and skips entries that already match.
• Replace removes the current entries and uses the validated imported list.

Invalid or conflicting imports are rejected without changing the current vocabulary. Preferred forms may later be sent to OpenAI as transcription hints. Listen Orb does not send spoken forms to OpenAI. Exports include them and are saved wherever you choose. See the privacy details.
