Buy and paste a license

$99 once · 14-day trial · 3 Macs · Polar

Listen Orb is commercial software. Polar handles checkout and tax. There is no Listen Orb subscription and no Listen Orb cloud. The license unlocks Listen, Fn, and insert on this Mac after the trial.

That payment is not OpenAI credit. Speech still uses your own API key. A ChatGPT plan is not API billing, and a Polar key is not an sk- key.

The short version

Buy Listen Orb · $99. Polar emails a key that usually starts with LISTENORB_. In the app, choose License… and paste it.

Step by step

1. Pay once through Polar

   Open the checkout. Polar takes the $99 payment and sends a receipt to the address you used there.

2. Copy the license key

   The same email has the key. You can also open Polar’s customer portal from that message and copy it again later. Keep it. The same key unlocks up to 3 Macs.

3. Paste it into Listen Orb

   On first launch the app can collect it. Later, use License… in the menu bar extra, or right-click the orb and choose License…. Save. The key stays in Keychain on this Mac.

4. Or start the trial first

   Without a key, first launch starts a 14-day trial. Listen works during the trial. When it ends, the app asks you to buy or paste a key. An offline grace of a few days covers a licensed Mac that cannot reach Polar.

If something fails

• The key does not look valid. It usually starts with LISTENORB_, not sk-. An OpenAI key belongs in API key…, not here.
• Polar did not accept the key. Copy it again from the email or the customer portal. If this Mac is a fourth activation, deactivate one of the others in Polar or write hello@listenorb.com.
• Receipt missing. Check spam, then Polar’s portal, then hello@listenorb.com.
